Andre Gouws. Say the name when you next don your ninja suit. Because this guy is an idiot. Andre Gouws is the man who, on Sunday morning whilst still pissed, swerved across the road and drove into a 66-yr old cyclist in PE. The 27-yr old Gouws admitted to the charge but said he remembered very little about the collision or the high speed chase that ensued thereafter. He was caught 20km from the scene and then still tried to flee the police on foot. Probably because he was still tanked up to his eyeballs in brandy and coke. Clem Morris, the cyclist, was killed.
What has really rankled civil society and especially the cycling community is the T-shirt he wore to his bail hearing. After the judge released him with conditions for R5000, he took off his tracksuit top to reveal a sweaty and crumpled shirt with "cleverly disguised as a responsible person" blazoned on the front. I'm not sure how much more irresponsible you could be. What was he thinking when he decided to put that on? You've just killed an innocent person; you're off to court to hear what the judge has to say; and you mockingly wear something with a clear intent to provoke a reaction? Well done, Mr Gouws, because you're getting one.
The Smooth Knobblies send their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr Clem Morris. As for you Gouws, I seriously think you should check if your passport gets you into Iraq or Siberia at your soonest convenience. That's going to be a whole lot more fun than the crowded prison cell you'll hopefully get. You sir, are a chop.
